The 27th Annual Night Out Against Neighborhood Crime and Drugs is on Tuesday, August 3, 2010. This event is free for the whole family. This year's theme is "Neighborhoods Need to Pool Their Resources Against Crime." This is part of the larger "27th Annual National Night Out" (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW).
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Retired police sergeant Doug Arp will be sitting in a swimming pool this year. The pool is already set up at the Culkin Volunteer Fire Department, located on Culkin Road off of U.S. 61 North
