Friday twilight airshow 5:30 - 7 p.m.
Saturday - Gates open at 9 a.m. Main show at 12 noon
Show will feature modern military static displays, Aeroshell Aerobatic team, 12,000 HP Jet Truck doing 300 mpg, lots of WW2 Warbirds, and P-51 Mustang Formation Aerobatic Act. Also featured will be sky divers, military vehicles, airplane and helicopter rides, radio controlled airplanes, and lots more! Admission is Under 5-free, 5-15 $10, 16 and over $15. Saturday, October 30, 2010 - Bridging the Gap Benefit Walk

LIFE (Living Independence for Everyone) of Mississippi’s 3rd annual fund-raising event benefiting Mississippians with Disabilities, will be held  Saturday, October 30, 2010.   The Vicksburg American Legion & Vicksburg VFW will be honored at this event. This non-competitive walk, stroll, roll-a-thon will take place on the old Mississippi River Bridge in Vicksburg.  Registration begins at 8:30 AM, with the event starting at 9:30 AM.  T-shirts are only guaranteed for those who pre-register by October 16, 2010.  The registration fee is $25.00 or $20.00 for groups of five or more.  Collect donations from friends, family, and co-workers and don’t forget the businesses you frequent to sponsor your participation in this Event.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Awards will be given to individuals who have the largest dollar amount of monetary sponsors.  To obtain a registration form contact LIFE of Mississippi at 601-969-4009 or on-line at http://www.lifeofms.com/index.php

Treats on the Streets - Saturday, October 30, 2010

The Vicksburg Main Street Program will hold the 23rd Annual Downtown Halloween Costume Contest and Treats on the Streets on Saturday, October 30th. The costume contest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the corner of Veto and Washington Street and Treats on the Streets will immediately follow the contest. Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each age category. Children from 0-12 years are eligible for the costume contest. Don't miss out on the Downtown Vicksburg Halloween tradition! Come trick-or-treat with your downtown merchants who are sure to have some great treats!

Trick-or-Treat and Halloween will be observed Saturday October 30, 2010 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Anne Elizabeth Buys named Riverland's Outstanding Teen

Anne Elizabeth Buys was named Riverland's Outstanding Teen on Sunday October 24, 2010. She is a Porter's Chapel Academy student and the daughter of Mark and Judy Buys of Vicksburg. She performed a vocal/ballet combination for her talent in a Miss America Scholarship Pageant in the Teen Division sponsored by the Leaf Foundation. She was also a preliminary winner in talent and evening gown. She tied for interview honors with Brooke Bullock of Petal.
