Haute Arte “Alternative Charitable Event” to Benefit Youth Arts Program: Young Professionals Party with a Purpose on Saturday, March 5, 2011

As public school budgets tighten and funding for arts and cultural organization shrinks, youth art programs are systematically eroded and eventually eliminated. In order to support programs that provide opportunities for youth experience the arts, Sirobe Carstafhnur has coordinated several charitable events. Haute Arte, this year’s “alternative charitable event” will benefit the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation’s SPECTRUM program. The event will be held on March 5, 2011 at Suite 106 (106 Wilmington St. in Jackson Mississippi). The event will begin at 8:00 p.m. Admission is $5 with art supplies and $10 without.

The Haute Arte event will include eclectic photography by local photographers G. Miles, Preston Johnson (Ace Up Productions), and Ken Gordon (Ken Gordon Photography) from 8:00PM – 9:00PM. Local visual artists Brother Shambe’ Jones and Ayatti Hatcher will participate in a live “art-off” where they will create pieces at the event. Live music will be provided by local cover band, Soul-Unique, and DJ Sean Mac will spin throughout the evening. Haute Arte attendees will also have the opportunity to add to a collaborative art-piece that will be donated to the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation.

Art will be for sale from artists such as Troy Guildbeaux, H.C. Porter, Lesley Silver, Josh Haily, Ranada Robinson, and Hilari Jones.
